HEALTH TECHNICIAN

Overview

Health Technicians are trained to perform- clerical and basic Medical care tasks that include checking patients in and out, taking vital signs, and administering patient carefully.

Hospitals, Doctors’ offices, Clinics, and Medical environments of all kinds hire Health Technicians to work full-time hours during all shifts, including weekends and holidays. They work in a collaborative environment with the rest of the medical staff and report to Nurses and Physicians. They also work within the Medical facility itself and do not travel outside the property to perform their basic job tasks.

DUTIES OF HEALTH TECHNICIAN

This is a list of some of the day to day task that this role will involve. The exact daily tasks will vary from one health centre to another:

  • Administrative tasks, such as checking patients in and out, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and adding notes to patient files.
  • Monitor patient vital signs during Medical procedures, and alert Medical staff to any problems.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times, in accordance with Federal and facility policies.
  • Perform many basic Medical tasks, such as collecting specimen cups from patients, hooking up test equipment, and taking vital signs.
  • Assist in transporting patients around the facility, sometimes physically lifting patients for transport.
  • Assist patients with all tasks, including grooming and bathing. And also keep medical equipment clean and well-maintained.
